Hydrocodone
What is Hydrocodone?
Hydrocodone is a narcotic opiate, having a morphine-like action in the body. Pure hydrocodone along is not normally sold as a prescription pain killer. Instead, small amounts ofhydrocodone are combined with other ingredients to create proprietary prescription pain killers such as Vicodin, Lortab, Dilaudid and Norco, as well as Anexsia, Dicodid, Hycodan, Hydromet, Hycomine, Lorcet, Novahistex, Hydroco, Tussionex, Vicoprofen, Xodol and others. Doing this classifies these prescription pain killers as a "Schedule III" substance, which has fewer restrictions for their distribution and use than the "Schedule II" classification of purehydrocodone.Hydrocodone Addiction and Treatment

All age groups have been effected, often negatively, by access othydrocodone, and the mistaken assumptions people have about it. Though sometimes seen as a "white-collar" addiction, Hydrocodone abuse has risin across a wide range of populations. Some data suggests that the most likely Hydrocodone abuser is a 20-40 yr old, white, female, who uses the drug because she is chemically dependent, or even attempting suicide. Hydrocodone-related deaths have been reported in just about every demogrphic group (age, race, location, income, etc.).
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration also warns breastfeeding mothers that Hydrocodone does pass into breast milk, which can harm nursing babies.
